Many people don’t know what true religion really means and they end up doing what is impure and undefiled before God deceiving their own hearts. But today we are going to see what ‘true religion’ is and what is required of us to do as believers.

First of all let’s start by defining the term “religion”. Religion is what people regard as holy, sacred, absolute, divine or worthy.

According to James 1:27 ” Religion is that what is pure and undefiled before God”. These are external religious or outward acts that are expressed by people to show their faith on God. It is therefore essential to understand what is right, pure, just and pleasing in the eyes of God.

The following three acts is what God regard as pure and undefiled before his sight, according to James 1:27.

1. Visiting orphans
2. Helping widows in their afflictions
3. Keeping oneself unstained from the world

It is therefore, important to observe the above instructions in order to please God by our acts.

It is therefore essential to understand what is right, pure, just and pleasing in the eyes of God..
